Pinup Queen is DONE
June 26, 2009
Praise the knitting gods! Pinup Queen is finished, at last. I darned in the last tail after dinner tonight and immediately put it on. It fits perfectly. The yarn is lovely and soft next to the skin. The V neck is quite low and the neckline is wide, so I’ll be more comfortable with another layer underneath.
I’ll get Tai Chi Man to get some photos of me wearing it tomorrow.
I made this the other night. I saw the recipe on FatFree Vegan and just happened to have some overripe bananas in the fruit bowl and blueberries in the freezer. I ate some before it even got cold, but it was even better the next day. I spread it with some Earth Balance and couldn’t get enough!
These are the first cherries from the tree in our backyard. It’s loaded this year. We were debating whether to spray (with nasty chemicals) to avoid the fruitfly/worm problem this year but the possibility of harming bees or the birds that were pecking some of the cherries and nesting inside the tree stopped us. The alternatives were (a) to spread some sort of barrier cloth on the ground to stop the fruit flies that emerged from the ground from finding their way to the cherries or (b) wrapping the entire tree to keep the bugs and birds off. In the end, I decided to start picking them before they were fully ripe. I have checked a few and found no worms inside – I think it’s too soon and that the flies are only just coming out – so MacAddict and I are going ahead and eating them (the others don’t like them).

It’s a lovely sweater.
And the banana bread looks wonderful.
Our cherries are all getting eaten by Orioles and Jays, hehe
